CHRISTMAS AT THE BOTANICS | ARTISTS 2024

Listen to the trail music on Spotify

Robins Trail

'Il sentiero dei pettirossi' Nothing says Christmas like a sparkling flock of red, gold, bonze, orange robins, bringing good luck and messages of love.

Rainbow Road

The route is awash with all the colours of the rainbow.

Neon Tunnel

Strings of neon cord stretch between the trees and overhead, creating geometric patterns in the dark.

Fire Garden

Large-scale metal work combines with flames, light and seasonal music to create our fire gardens.

Mycelium Network

The mushrooms slowly transition through several colours whilst the mycelium strobes and pulses. They almost look as if they are moving around and sending messages similar to a human nervous system.

Floating Candles

Around a hundred candles seemingly float in the air, suspended overhead. Flickering flames illuminate the tree-lined passageway and immerse the audience in a magical, festive atmosphere.

Father Christmas

As you pass Father Christmas' garden, why not give him a wave, and say hello? He'll be delighted to deliver a little seasonal fun as you walk by.

Spiral Trees

The cone shape of the spiral tree reflects the shape of the conifer Christmas tree whose branches slop downwards to help them shed snow and withstand strong winds.

Inverleith House Show

A fun animated projection onto the front of Inverleith House, inspired by plants associated with the festive season.

Edison Walk

The lights incongruously hang in the trees connecting electrical bulbs with the nature outdoors.

Sea of Light

Sea of Light is a large-scale installation that covers the ground with thousands of individually controlled balls of LED light animated to a bespoke soundtrack.

One Small Thing

One Small Thing by NOVAK was originally commissioned by Royal Botanic Gardens Kew in London as part of the Kew 2023 light trail.
