Our creative team is run by Managing Director Zoe Bottrell. Zoe specialises in delivering visually stunning events in heritage and landscape settings, often in challenging locations. So, if you have an idea for an event or experience indoors, outdoors, in the city, or on water, Zoe and her team can make it happen.

Clare Elliott
Senior Designer
Clare is a BAFTA award-winning costume and set designer and has been the creative talent behind our illuminated Christmas trails for over seven years. Clare also designs and produces our indoor Christmas experiences including The Palace of Oz (2025), Neverland (2024) and many more at Blenheim Palace.

Tony Simpson
Head of Lighting
Tony has worked as a lighting designer and practitioner across a wide spectrum of disciplines for thirty years. He has worked extensively as a theatrical lighting designer, as well as designing and running many large commercial projects in the live events industry, and designing and overseeing stage lighting for several feature films.

Simon Smalley
Senior Content Producer
Simon was Operations Manager at The National Railway Museum in York before moving to Culture Creative in 2018. Simon’s role is to support the Senior Management Team and to work as Associate Producer across a number of projects throughout the year including Christmas at Dunham Massey.

Emma Henderson
Senior Producer Communications
Emma has been working in communications for arts and cultural organisations for over 20 years. For Culture Creative Emma works closely with Sony Music on the marketing of My Christmas Trails, Halloween and LIGHTSCAPE. She is also part of the senior management team for Christmas at the Botanics in Edinburgh.

Laura Hodgkinson
Programming Project Manager
Prior to joining CCL, Laura worked in theatre and stage management. Her role at Culture Creative is to ensure that the creative and production departments collaborate effectively to deliver visually impressive events that are on time and within budget.

Brian Thunder
Fire Producer
Using fire, fireworks, theatre, music, and art, Brian has been a core team member of world-leading companies including The World Famous, Theatre of Fire, The Bureau of Silly Ideas, Lightfires, PaBoom, Avanti Display, Emergency Exit Arts, Le Maitre, and The National Theatre of Scotland. As our inhouse Fire Producer, Brian creates fire installations for all of our sites worldwide.

Jane Greenfield
Creative Producer
Jane’s career has spanned over 30 years during which time she has worked in the fields of performance, visual and outdoor arts. As a curator of dance and live art she creatively and strategically led numerous arts organisations and festivals including Dance 4, NOTT Dance, and Home Live Art. In her later career she worked regularly as a consultant and contemporary arts curator for the National Trust as part of their Trust New Art programme. She has been with Culture Creative since 2017 with a current focus on the Lightscape trails in the USA and Australia.

Poppy Hall
Projects Producer
With over a decade of experience in theatre, film, and television, Poppy has worked extensively in set design and art departments, as well as working within the technical & stage management department on large-scale theatre productions. Her diverse background has led to projects such as designing short films, exhibitions, and both indoor and outdoor trails. She currently works for Culture Creative, where she produces predominantly outdoor Christmas experiences.

Anna Minchell
Projects Producer
Anna is one of our producers with a background in retail and set design, focusing on creative producing from early concept and visual ideation, through to on-site realisation. She works closely with makers and artists to ensure each project achieves a strong and cohesive creative outcome, primarily across Halloween, as well as Christmas indoor and outdoor experiences.

Jayne Pilling
Designer and Prop Maker
Jayne has spent over 20 years navigating the creative world, building a rich and eclectic arts practice. Starting out as a graphic designer before discovering a passion for theatre design, prop and puppet making. Along the way, she even reinvented a run-down theatre venue and took a scenic detour into developing her own glamping site.
Bringing all of this experience together, Jayne combines bold visual storytelling, hands-on craftsmanship, and imaginative problem-solving in every project she takes on.
