Jacqueline Woodson

Author Jacqueline Woodson's collection of short poems 'Remember The Light Inside You' were created for this year's Lightscape at Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

Jacqueline Woodson, a 2020 Macarthur Fellow, is the author of many books for children and adults including the National Book Award Winning Memoir, Brown Girl Dreaming, Another Brooklyn, and The Day You Begin. 


Among her many awards, she is the recipient of the Hans Christian Andersen Medal as well as many Newbery honors, Coretta Scott King Awards and NAACP Image Awards. Currently an Artist in Residence at the Kennedy Center, Woodson lives in Brooklyn with her family.
