Challenge Your Imagination
Challenge Your Imagination's new work Pathways uses light to make visible the invisible connections specific to the community and environment of a given site.
Drawing inspiration from the natural unseen networks that connect plants (as notably researched by ecologist Suzanne Simard), Pathways at Brooklyn Botanic Garden uses lasers to draw lines of light between a series of trees, creating a visible network and illuminating a new path for people to explore.
Challenge Your Imagination (CYI) is a creative direction, design, and producing studio based in New York City. The studio is led by founding artist Asher Young and producer Angeline Wang. Their work - ranging from art installations to immersive theater to concert tours - explores what it means to be human.
To date they have:
put A$AP Rocky through physical and psychological tests on the sales floor of Sotheby’s
inflated a 75-foot octopus in the middle of the ocean to celebrate a maritime tradition
developed a three-dimensional hologram to represent memory in an original theatrical adaptation of Peter Pan
brought together 30 artists and researchers to project onto Yale’s rare book and manuscript library
consulted an ornithologist for behavioral insights while designing motion-activated light-up bird sculptures for a residential community
Challenge Your Imagination establishes every project's creative narrative through a rigorous artistic process and invites their audiences to embrace the unexpected and unfamiliar within themselves.
